Nurse's Song When voices of children are heard on the green, And laughing is heard on the hill, My heart is at rest within my breast, And everything else is still. 'Then come home, my children, the sun is gone down, And the dews of night arise; Come, come, leave off play, and let us away, Till the morning appears in the skies.' 乳母のうた 子どもたちの声が緑に響き 笑いが丘にあふれるときは 私の心は安らぎ ほかのものもみな静か 日は沈んだ、夜露も浮かぶ 子どもたち帰っておいで 空に朝が顔を出すまで 遊ぶのをやめて戻っておいで いやいやもっと遊ばせて まだ明るいし寝れないよ おまけに空には小鳥が飛んでいる 丘は羊たちでいっぱいさ はいはいそれなら遊んでおいで 真っ暗になったら帰って寝ましょう 小さな子どもたちははねて叫んで笑い 丘じゅうがこだまをかえした。 |
